Leith has been to the ASA conference in Brisbane. This was a terrific experience with lots of friendly Aspies (150 of them! She gave one presentation with the only other Kiwi, Gabrielle Hogg, from Hastings, on "Aspies and the Social Media". Both gave two presentations on their own subjects, Gabrielle on her bio-medical journey through Autism, and Leith on "Workplace Rejection". The audiences were most supportive and it was a good way to "fledge our feathers" presenting beyond NZ shores.
Leith and Jan are presently working on a 3 hour seminar for teachers and other professionals on supporting students who have Asperger Syndrome. This will be offered intermittently through the year ahead. Jan has been working hard on the art of constructing an aspie-friendly resume which will carry really useful information for employers. Each resume is constructed through diligent hours of discussion and eliciting of information from the client and results in a very comprehensive document.
